Sources first
Rules and requirements come from official sources wherever possible — NSW Fair Trading and nsw.gov.au, the Building Commission NSW, the NSW Planning Portal, SafeWork NSW, Service NSW and local councils. Every guide lists the sources it relied on and the date we checked them.
Prices are ranges, dated and attributed
Renovation prices vary with the property, access, materials and scope. We publish indicative ranges, say when they were compiled, and name the cost guides or industry sources they came from. When sources disagree we say so rather than averaging them into a false precision. A written quote from a licensed trade is the only price that counts.
Plain English, for every homeowner
We write for people who have never renovated before as much as for seasoned owners: short sentences, the answer first, jargon explained, and the questions to ask before signing.
What we never do
- Invent statistics, testimonials, reviews or case studies.
- Accept payment to recommend a product, brand or business in a guide.
- Present general information as advice for your particular property — approvals, structural, electrical, plumbing and safety questions need a qualified professional.
Keeping guides current
We review guides when rules change and refresh price ranges regularly. Updated guides show the date they were last revised. If you spot something out of date or wrong, email info@mytradecrew.com.au and we will check it.
Who writes them
Guides are researched and written by the MyTradeCrew editorial team (operated by Body Planz Pty Ltd). Crew members do not pay to appear in guides and are never named in them.
